Mack Ryan's Recurring Role and Friendship

00:00:51
Speaker
what How many times have I been on here now? Oh, oh God. Okay. Let's see. Your first appearance was in season two.
00:00:58
Speaker
I think. I think so. That sounds right because you were you were like one of my first like actual like oh not one of my like close friends that are college friends that I want you were like my first like real guest that I had on the podcast and that I think I had you back on like but Most seasons actually. I think so. I think there might have been like one season where we took a ah Ryan break. I think yeah, you're like, yeah it was it was the world. It was so it was the world tour season that we didn't bring you on because right right because I think I had someone else from onter ah ah Ontario that season.
00:01:36
Speaker
because of how I restricted myself. So yeah, so I think you've been on every other season, those 72, three, four, two, three, four, five, seven. It's been quite a bit. Yeah, it has. I think you were on twice in season seven because of the year end special.
00:01:55
Speaker
Yeah, oh and plus it at the year end special on like season two or three as well. So You've been on a cup. You've been on a good amount of times real Honestly, yeah I mean a seat you're a season regular at this point, but we so we love having you on here. I like being here. It's fun It's great. It's great. It's it's funny that like with how covid changed the world and things it's like i went from a guy who when i was in college watched your react videos just because i listened to all that j-rock stuff and all that i'm like yo this guy's great and he's canadian too that's cool uh so then finding you on twitch i'm like oh he streams too and then be getting the courage of like hey you want to come on my podcast
00:02:38
Speaker
And now it's like, yeah yeah, Ryan's a, I could see you like a homie and a half. Yeah. Now you're just like, Oh God, I don't want to talk to him anymore. He's been on my podcast too much. I think this is the last one. Yeah.

Hottest Video Game Takes

00:02:51
Speaker
Uh, well we sit, since you're back and since it's a new season, we had, we added a new thing to the start of a, for returning guests. And that is hot takes where you get to give us your hottest video game take.
00:03:04
Speaker
Ooh, my hottest video game take. There's, I feel like it kind of goes hand in hand with what we'll end up talking about later, but throughout all of playing Mario Odyssey, I just had a burning hatred for Mario and just wished that I could play as Luigi. You know what, valid.
00:03:22
Speaker
I really want like it's great that we get to like Luigi's Mansion and stuff like that but I feel like we need an Odyssey game with Luigi. We like that we should have had a playable though honestly we should have had a playable Luigi with Odyssey instead like the Luigi's balloon mode okay you put Luigi in there like yeah I wish that they did what they did with Galaxy, and I think they did with Galaxy 2 with giving us Luigi. you could like If you beat the game as Mario, you can play as Luigi as well. oh that like You get the like i guess like the green hat and whatnot, and so you can make Mario kind of look like Luigi, but it's like it's not is not not the same. It's not the same.
00:03:59
Speaker
No, it's it absolutely isn't it? It is absolutely highway robbery that they didn't give us playable Luigi and Odyssey because that would have been cool. It would have given Nintendo even more hours of people playing Mario. I think more people would want to because after so long, I'm like, I just don't want to look at his face anymore. Like, I just wish it was Luigi. Luigi. Wow. Yeah, that's that's a good hot take. And I agree with that, honestly.

Gaming Industry News and Challenges

00:04:27
Speaker
um Well, we go into our headline of the week now, and it's a great headline of the week Earlier this year when we had carrots night on the podcast We talked about how? Microsoft Bethesda Zenimax they had to kill like three studios ah and basically had to let all lot of those people go well and one of those studios was tango game works and the developers of the Evil Within series, and the very popular, very new, ah new last year, Hi-Fi Rush, which even won a game award. And then they shut had to shut down the studio. Well, the studio, Tango Game Works, has been saved. That's right. Tango Game Works has been acquired by Krafton, the publisher behind PUBG and the Callisto Protocol.
00:05:21
Speaker
interesting so they've been saved and they're going to intend to collaborate with xbox's nmx to ensure that they're a smooth transition and maintain continuity at tango game works allowing the talented team to continue developing the high fire rush ip and explore future projects, which is great. um That's amazing. Now, they are only going to be bringing about 50 of the 100 employees that ah worked at Tango. So there is still a loss there, but the studio is saved. And as long as if they do good, they'll be able to bring people back in. um That's higher, hopefully higher, because obviously layoffs in the gaming industry is such a big thing that's been happening like the past two years now. Yes.
00:06:06
Speaker
um So the move from Microsoft to craft on will not impact tangos existing game of catalog Everything will still be available which includes the evil within series ghost wire Tokyo and of course high fire rush It's great news. It's actually great news I believe by the time that you're listening to this episode, by the way, I think if not, I think the YouTube short ah that talked about the original shutdown at Tango should be out, if not close to being out. I have a bunch of YouTube shorts coming out and nice um one of them is popping off right now. ah And then the one that immediately went after that posted like the next day is doing shit on YouTube, but it did great on TikTok. And I'm just like, I really don't understand these algorithms. I'm just uploading them at the same time every day, seeing what happens. And it's just, I don't get it.
00:06:58
Speaker
I don't think anyone does like it's impossible to know because they you just constantly keep changing it and it's like some like stupid thing that you just post ends up like going crazy and you're like I don't understand why and then something that you might put more work into is like two people watched and you're like why yeah yeah honestly I think some the one that's gonna be uploaded tomorrow like day of recording tomorrow I really hope it does good because it's just me react it's it's me reacting to dimension Eliana about is the fish hot? and The fish in question being side on. um But it's a good it's a good YouTube short. It's it's a good one. The audience. I really hope it does good.

Recent Game Releases and Updates

00:07:41
Speaker
I really hope it does good. I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into that wall. Yeah. I like I wish that there was like an easy way to understand anything, but no.
00:07:55
Speaker
Yeah, it's just i I saw a TikTok about um pod specifically like podcast clips. I like make it to TikToks and YouTube shorts. And it's like a guy mispronouncing so ah salmon and saying salmon instead.
00:08:10
Speaker
Um, but then it's like cut what is he it's like a lesson of like a like a like a call upper university lesson of like podcasting 101 What did he do wrong? He didn't egg him on more to make this a clip It's like you're like rage like baiting. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. It's like I I mean, I hate it, but it's like it's a part of it's like work it's how it works It's how you play the system and it's like I don't do that. It's like man. I don't do that enough on this podcast I gotta do it more Do you want me to just start right? I'm making this pronouncing words. Well, maybe. Hey, maybe we'll get there. Who knows? Anyway, it's just man. Look, I just find what's funny and in these episodes and I do my best to take some clips. um Anyway, ah let's dive into everything else that happened in these past two weeks. It's time for us to dive in to the week in review.
00:09:06
Speaker
Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the Week in Review. ah and Starting off, ah we got some of the last some of the last some of the games that came out these past two weeks include Sam and Max, The Devil's Playhouse Remastered, Madden NFL 25, Anotria The Last Song, Office Fight, and then two of the bigger ones, Concord,
00:09:36
Speaker
which i people are very mixed about this one just because of how it was revealed and the fact that it's a hero shooter and people really don't know how to feel about this one at the time being. And of course, the one that's ah that got over 2 million concurrent Steam users at the moment, Black Myth Wukong, which is not a soul's like, it's a soul's light.
00:10:01
Speaker
Which I think a lot of people were thinking that it was going to be like Essentially a souls game. Yeah, that's what I thought too I thought because of like how this was getting marketed like I was gonna be a hard game. It's gonna be Like a soul a soul's esque game but it's it's it's like it's a character action game where you have your character you fight you go through the stuff It's just hard But it's like combat is entirely very different and much more fluid and everything It's like oh, this is actually maybe I might give it a try maybe It's on, it is on my list. I remember hearing about it like a while ago and I was interested and then it came out and like, Hey, I think I need to do it. like This is, this is one of 2024 is like, I guess you could say front runners for game of the year.
00:10:46
Speaker
ah Like looking at like what's come out this year. It's really hard to say like what the real Game of the year nominees are gonna be this one's obviously gonna be up there And I feel like we know that's I think stellar blade will be as well Mmm with how they've done but like as what the other four are going to be No, you got me that I have no clue what they can think of any possibly Final Fantasy 7 rebirth because that was really good. But like after those three, I don't know that was granted. We still have the fall season to have some big releases happen. And there are some big things still to come out this year. That's true. But it's still it's still way too early to say what the actual nominees will be. Yeah, I would have no idea.
00:11:34
Speaker
um As for what happened in these past few weeks, quite a bit actually, aside from the big thing that we'll be talking about ah later today. ah dragon a Starting off, Dragon Age the Veilguard is coming out Halloween. They gave us their release date for that. and ah So people who are excited for the game, you have Halloween for people who are skeptical about this game in the Dragon Age franchise.
00:11:58
Speaker
You got till then, and for those of you who don't care, I mean, it's not like you cared in the first place. yet theyre out What is Dragon Age? Yeah, exactly. Valve. Valve is in the news, folks, because they're holding a very strict beta test for their brand new MOBA deadlock. Now, and when I say very strict, like if you were caught streaming the game, sharing anything, you got banned to immediately. That's actually not surprising for them.
00:12:26
Speaker
It really isn't like they are keeping things on the hush, but the the hush, hush, and it's like, Jesus Val, come on, just give us a crumb. They really do not like to give anything to anyone at any moment. They don't like giving information and they don't like counting to three. Yeah. I don't think they know how. Honestly true. In Grand Theft Auto news, but not Grand Theft Auto 6, the VR version of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas that was going to be a Quest exclusive has been put on hold indefinitely. Interesting. It's you know if it happens they'll they're working on other things. I'm like, okay I didn't even know that was a thing that was happening. Yeah, I had no idea either But what is getting a VR version and it's coming up this fall trombone champ The good old dooting game where you do it on a trombone and Yeah, it's it's coming out this fall
00:13:23
Speaker
That's so funny. That's great. I played trombone champ. ah It got dark. Like there's some dark secrets in that game. for is there little that It is like if you really if you try to 100% the game or just like collect every doing like there's some dark secrets in there. It's like what the fuck really interesting. Yeah, it's it's interesting.
00:13:45
Speaker
ah Persona 3 reload episode I guess has released some brand new trailers its new battle theme don't um And it's on the horizon September 10th is when that DLC drops and I'm excited for it I'll be playing that I don't know if they'll be playing it when it drops if I'm playing something else But I'm going to be playing it because I played P3R and Platinum dead earlier this year Really? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I don't know though if I ever told you like the start of my year. Like if you go back to the early episodes of this podcast, it's like I've played three massive 100 hour RPGs back to back to back of P3R, FF7R and like a dragon if infinite wealth.
00:14:30
Speaker
I remember someone saying that you were doing that. I'm like, I don't know how he does it. Like I still, it's two years later and I still haven't finished Persona 4. That's next on my list. I still like play person soa i played the nice play Persona but then like they did the whole, oh, it's on everything now. So I'm like, I'll play on PS5 later. I still haven't done that yet, but I maybe might do it next year.
00:14:51
Speaker
As long as nothing big RPG-wise comes out. I can only do so many. Yeah, fully fully understand. That's why I started doing other stuff too. I'm like, I need a break yeah from this. Yeah.
00:15:04
Speaker
Hunt Showdown underwent a massive update, changing it entirely. It's now called Hunt Showdown 1896. The game now features an upgrade. It's an upgraded engine, overhauled UI, big changes to the meta, and a brand new map, the first in three years.
00:15:23
Speaker
ah So big big thing for hunt showdown fans The mega mod Fallout London the developers of that mod have plans to build their own indie studio Which is super cool and cool really cool to see ah good for them because that mod it did really good like there IGN even did a review for that mod. It got like a solid seven, I think So good for them ah In Sonic ah Generations news, Sega says that the original Sonic Generations will still be available via bundles and whatnot once Sonic X Shadow Generations drops. They have no plans to delist the original one from stores. um And also, a brand new trailer for Sonic X Generations, Sonic X Shadow Generations ah revealed Shadow's brand new powers and
00:16:16
Speaker
ah Holy shit, they look really cool. And also they confirm that shadow will be fighting metal overlord from Sonic heroes in the game ah That's fucking cool Wait, what are the I haven't watched it yet. What are the powers? Yeah. Oh god, it's like ah so Dark Doom from shadow the hedgehog gives him like a bunch of new abilities He ah gives them an ability to turn into a squid ah Shadow can get wings It's like really fucking cool, like the shit that they're giving Shadow. It's like, god damn! The hedgehog is back!
00:16:53
Speaker
But no guns. sad Still no guns. One day, one day. what one day well I mean, hey, who knows? Maybe they'll put a gun in the game um and everyone will lose their shit. um in the what In the funniest story ah this this week, a Spanish real estate listing was using screenshots from the Sims 4 to sell their apartments.
00:17:18
Speaker
I saw that and I was like, what? it's yeah yeah now now I say screenshots, but yeah but it's not even screen it's not even screenshots. It's the case of they took a photo of the monitor with their phone and uploaded that. So we're in like 2000. This was tweeted by a buyer and Twitter had a field day. So though a buy a potential buyer tweeted this. It was like, well, what the fuck?
00:17:40
Speaker
ah essentially. Twitter had a field day. The original tweeter mentioned that she had already reported the listing to idealista. I think it's how you pronounce it. It's basically like the Spanish real estate like market board of like, hey, this isn't an actual fucking This isn't real photos. so um They were with replies discussing how scams like these are becoming increasingly common. And thankfully, it was taken down. But still, the fact that that even happened is hilarious. I have looked it up and it's like your look, it's literally you're just seeing through the walls like in Sims when you're looking at your sim and like the walls. Yeah. Transparent. What the hell? Yeah. They could get away with this. Yeah. It doesn't even look real.
00:18:29
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, God. Yeah. Ubisoft, they're in the news because they laid off 45 jobs in their US offices.
00:18:41
Speaker
rip. All right. that we well that We've said so much about all the the stuff already that with layoffs that over these past this past year, I don't even know what else to say at this point. There's nothing else. It's a sad how common it is now. Yeah.
00:19:01
Speaker
ah But I think Ubisoft is going to do good because our Outlaws will probably make up a good amount of money to hopefully not have any more layoffs or a good bit. I have a friend who did get a review copy who is say who has said some things that are not it's negative so far. That's good. Yeah.
00:19:24
Speaker
ah The Epic Games Store, they have launched on mobile devices worldwide on Android devices while only European iPhone users can access it. iPhone users can't access it though, unless you're in Europe.
00:19:40
Speaker
fair and but I mean, it is you think if you think about it hard enough of why that is, it's because of the epic Apple versus Epic Games thing about Fortnite. If you remember that story, all of those years ago, that basically is like, yeah, Fortnite's still not allowed on the mobile. And because of that, Epic can't launch on. they're they're They're struggling to get it on iPhone still. I forgot about that. Yeah.
00:20:06
Speaker
Yeah, ah Red Dead Redemption's long-awaited PC port appears imminent as the PlayStation store bizarrely claimed it's now on PC. o The updates of the official PlayStation description suggest that things are happening behind the scenes.
00:20:22
Speaker
Someone got fired for that, for sure. Well, most likely, so most likely lost a job or is take a gut reprimanded hard yeah um for that slip up. But we know that the PC port of the original Red Dead Redemption will be out probably this year.
00:20:39
Speaker
Which, I mean, hey, that's cool. I played a little bit of it back when I was young, but that's really about it. um Call of Duty Modern Warfare remastereds mod H2M, which sought to revive Modern Warfare 2's 2009 multiplayer on PC, has been canceled on the eve of its launch because developers said they received a season desist letter from Activision.
00:21:06
Speaker
Yay! Fuck you Activision! Another scummy thing they've done. Yeah, it's a shame to see, but it is their game at the end of the day and they can decide what mods make it and don't. Who? Yeah, Eternal Champions! Sega's obscure 1993 fighting game is getting a movie.
00:21:30
Speaker
If you've ever heard of Eternal Champions, good for you, because I sure haven't. I have not. Jurassic World writer Derek Connolly is working on a live action Eternal Champions movie. It's specifically for Skydance. Cool. Huh? What is that? I really don't know. I was going to look it up and I completely forgot.
00:21:50
Speaker
But it's going to get a movie down the line. Straight streaming services, probably. I would say straight to DVD, but that doesn't exist anymore. Oh, that's so sad. I kind of a kind of his in some in some amazing news. The long way is almost over. Final Fantasy 16 comes to PC September 17th.
00:22:20
Speaker
No longer is it PlayStation 5 exclusive. And guess what? The demo is out now, PC users. I know what you'll be doing for the next game. I've already plodded up the game. I've already finished both of its DLCs. I have nothing left to do in that game. I'm done with FF16. Great game. Go play it. It's a fantastic cinematic masterpiece.
00:22:44
Speaker
Nintendo, they put out a Nintendo Direct for the Nintendo Museum opening October 2nd in Kyoto. It includes sections that feature every product for that Nintendo ever released, divided by like the hardware or the era, ah specifically like an era dedicated to the products before they made video games. ah And the first floor,
00:23:07
Speaker
is full of interactive experiences, eight specifically, um including the Ultra Machine DX, which is a ping pong ball batting cage, a Zapper and Scope SP laser clay shooting area, where basic basically you take like the old Zapper or the Super Scope and yeah it's a shooting range on a screen that's interactive and ever it's really cool looking.
00:23:31
Speaker
and an area to play games with giant controllers all the way from the n NES to the Wii. Classic. ah You can also play Hanafuda games and there's even Hanafuda workshops to make your own Hanafuda cards. Because that's what Nintendo originally started as.
00:23:49
Speaker
ah Which is really really cool. It's like this whole this whole thing is like goddamn this whole thing looks really fucking cool there's even gonna be a cafe in there as well and It's just like goddamn Nintendo's doing everything right. I hope they bring one to the west, but I probably won't know They hate us, but hey if you're ever if you're visiting Kyoto past the second, let us know how the how it is Cuz I want to go um Also in Nintendo News, they will be ending service for Animal Crossing Pocket Camp on November 28th. However, they are working on releasing an offline version of the app compatible with player saves so they can still continue playing the game despite service having been ended. ah We will get more details on that in October.
00:24:37
Speaker
And lastly, Shift Up, the developers of Stellar Blade are now have now confirmed seemingly confirmed that Stellar Blade is going to be coming to PC as well, saying that in its most recent financial report that a PC release is expected soon. So another game coming to PC. So more accessibility. I love it. Love to see it.
00:24:59
Speaker
um In the world of live service game news um You have like a couple days left in FF 14 to go to a gongcha Purchase three drinks in one order to receive a king pork seed mount all across North America until August 28th and I believe you have it until the 28th as well for the Moonfire fair events to go jump up the fucking tower that took me two hours last more than two hours last year and It took me 20 minutes this year! If only I was that goated with the sauce last year, then the video, would mean to be fair, it gave me a lot, it was great content. It was fun to edit, but it was suffering. like In the moment, you hated life.
00:25:45
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, I did I did But that's what's happening in 14 is ah currently all the rising events coming soon They have it's I don't know if they specified one but rising is coming soon because they teased off the minion and piece of furniture We're gonna get this year ah in the event. In Battle Royale news oh and live service free-to-play game news, Juno and Clash Mode for Overwatch 2's Season 12 are out now. So you can now check all of those out. and ge In news, Genshin Impact 5.0 is releasing August 28th from The Sound of Things.
00:26:25
Speaker
Also, more Genshin news later on that got announced at Gamescom. And in Destiny 2, a bunch of player names have been changed to very generic names. um they it It was just like a thing that happened. Don't know what caused it. They have implemented a server-wide fix to ensure that no one else will be affected, but it's unclear. I believe it's still unclear at the time of recording this when players will be able to change their names back.
00:26:51
Speaker
Um, so yeah, hopefully it's already been fixed or it's getting fixed soon. That's a weird bug.

Destiny 2 Bug Discussion

00:27:00
Speaker
And yeah, that is the weirdest. I've never seen a bug like that before, which is wild. It's like, ah, yes. Why is my name Jim? Yeah. Uh, why am I John now? Yeah. Why am I John destiny to hello? And here's Sir Wiggles with your e-sports report.

Rage to the Abyss on October 10th, The Quarter Century Bonanza on November 11th, and Crossover Breakers on December 5th. And in that shooting, the Gathering, only two things left out of Magic this year. ah Duskborn, House of Horror on September 27th, and The Foundation set on November 15th.
00:30:58
Speaker
and And Disney Lorkana stuff, Shimmering Skies is out now, and set number six, which still doesn't have a name, but releases November 29th. And in tabletop news, well, more like chess news because it's a bunch of chess stuff that happened. Russian chess player Amina Aba Karova has been temporarily suspended from the Russian Chess Federation after she allegedly attempted to poison her opponent. it Oh, that's her name. Oh, God. Good luck with that.
00:31:32
Speaker
Umeganat Osmanova. I hope I got that right. um With Mercury at an August 2nd tournament, the organization will be making a decision on whether she's disqualified for life. I don't know if that decision has been fully made yet. What is happening in chess? But then, on August 12th, the International Chess Federation, or FIDE, issued a ruling against international chess master Andres Repkov who reportedly sent used condoms and pornographic photos to multiple female chess players some of whom were minors over a period of at least 10 years. Repkov will be banned from all fight events for five years. just five years of ah I'm sure that there's probably some other things too, but right now it's a five-year ban.
00:32:22
Speaker
but Let's let's be real you're out of the game for five years I think I i think you kind of it's like you go to one and everyone looks it like it's gonna be like the case of that Olympian who was a child off offender yeah of like but everyone boos though that their orientations were when it's like why bother even doing it anymore? What is ah happening in the world of chess?
00:32:43
Speaker
what where that yeah Mercury poisoning and and and a pedophile uncovered. That's basically what it was Yeah, I mean it wasn't just he was setting it to all women which but still it's just like god stop It just kept getting worse the more you're saying yeah Yeah ah Great times did not be a chess player. ah That's ah But about everything that happened these past two weeks with the weekend review any final thoughts on any of the other stories there I
00:33:19
Speaker
I feel like I'm still processing what you just read. so ah What was said? What was said before that? Because now I've lost everything. I've lost everything that you said because of chess. Oh, I like, i you know, the Pokemon thing. I already am like looking up the app pre-register for it. ah And I've been trying to withhold from, you know,
00:33:47
Speaker
buying more packs because I have rent now, but the urge is real. So I feel like this this app will help out tremendously. Okay. Okay. An update to the poisoning story. Osmanova fully recovered and continue the tournament. They actually finished second place in the tournament. um As for Aba Kirova, they It looks like they're probably gonna be banned for life. does is There's still no update on what their sentence is, but it looks like they're probably never gonna be playing again.
00:34:20
Speaker
I feel like the way that this story has been going and everything you've been saying, you're just going to be like, they decided to kill her. No, actually, no. Well, it's Russia. It was one. It's Russia. I don believe I can't remember if this was real or not. But I don't know if it was a meme or if it was real. But parent take this with a grain of salt. Vladimir Putin met her and shook hands with her and like said like, oh, good job.
00:34:45
Speaker
because i one I wouldn't be surprised. Yeah, exactly it's like I'm like, give me your notes on how you did this. no Exactly. I don't know if that was real or not. I just remember seeing a tweet about it. So I'm like, take it with a grain of salt. It might have been ah if it was a meme or good meme. Good meme is the meme. But like if it was real, huh? Yeah, honestly.
00:35:07
Speaker
Well, that's everything in the world of gaming news. It's time for us to move on to what should be on your radar from August 26 to September 6. From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar.
00:35:25
Speaker
That's right, we're crossing over into the fall season. Big releases coming soon um over the next couple of weeks, so be prepared for everything. Starting off on the 26th, World of Warcraft The War Within expansion releases on the PC, because that's the only place you can play WoW.
00:35:42
Speaker
On the 27th, Corekeeper and Monster Run release on the PC, and Crypt Custodian releases on everything. On the 28th, Nothing Comes Out, but on the 29th, Acombot releases for the PS5, Series X, and PC, Bloodless, and Squirrel with a Gun release on the PC. and MEO, The Smiling Man, Famicom, Detective Club releases for the Switch, Gory, CuddlyCarnage releases on everything, and Visions of Mana releases on everything but the Switch.
00:36:11
Speaker
And on the 30th, Star Wars Outlaws releases for the PS5, Series X, and PC. On the 3rd, nothing on the 2nd, GT Manager and Star Trucker released on the PC, and Harry Potter Quidditch Champions releases on everything. It's gonna be free as well on PlayStation through PlayStation Plus.

On the fifth, Data Live, Red Dystopia comes to the PC, Star Wave releases on the Quest, and What the Car releases on the PC. And on the sixth, Astro Bot releases on PlayStation 5. So a good amount of big games, starting off War Within.
00:36:54
Speaker
is This is this kick off, I believe, a three expansion, like massive story for World of Warcraft. ah This is also world of of how people have said this is World of Warcraft last chance, I think lot of people have are giving people. are There's I mean, a lot of people will say that this is like World of Warcraft last chance. I mean, they said the same thing with Dragon Flight.
00:37:18
Speaker
ah So if they could do it somehow, cool. But like it's Blizzard. I don't have much faith in them. Yeah, I agree. Um, squirrel with a gun. I mean, what more could you want? So such a great name.
00:37:35
Speaker
it It is. MBO is smiling man. Famicom Detective Club. This is a franchise of Nintendo's that hasn't seen an entry since the Famicom. So ah cool to see that there's a new entry coming for this. It is like horror based as well. Horror mystery. ah So really cool. Switch exclusive. Definitely check it out if it's your style of game. ah Visions of Mana. New entry into the Mana series. Coming out for everything but the Switch. ah Star Wars Outlaw.
00:38:02
Speaker
big, big game that could save Ubisoft and could potentially be a game of the year nominee if it's good. If it doesn't suck. If it doesn't suck, which, uh, again, I don't know what, how what's signed with review copies. Again, my friend who has one hasn't said anything bad about it. So that's good. Yeah. Um, Harry Potter Quidditch champions.
00:38:26
Speaker
Game of the Year. I don't think it'll be Game of the Year. I'm gonna say that much. ah This is, I believe, the second Quidditch game, specifically. I think so. um Because there's one that released in the PS2 GameCube Xbox era, and I have the GameCube version of it, because I found it at a sale, not that i mean not that I say not that long ago, at the most recent retro sale I was at. I found a copy of it, and it was cheap, and I got it. Nice. Because collecting.
00:38:54
Speaker
ah I'm gonna check out this game because it's gonna be free and it's like and also gonna be I'm gonna be checking out Concord cuz Concord's also gonna be free for PS plus as well So it's like, you know what? I might as well it's free I don't have to spend money on it and give money to the evil JK Rowling that is true, which is why I was Why I want to check it out it like look I liked Hogwarts legacy. It was alright.
00:39:19
Speaker
Eh, that's really all I had. That's all I've really heard about it. like it's It's nothing special. It's like, oh, it's cool. Nothing special. So we'll see how Quidditch is. ah What the car? If you played what the golf, it's like what the golf, but it's a car. And you're driving from point A to point B. This is actually a really cool game that I am probably going to play because I loved what the golf.
00:39:43
Speaker
And of course, Astrobot, I'm excited for Astrobot. I'm going to be playing Astrobot. ah It's Mario Galaxy, but Sony. ah I'm so excited for this. I played Astro's Playroom when I got my PS5, because that was the the free game that comes with it. And yeah, I'm fucking Astro. I'm ready for Astrobot. It looks so good. I am so ready.
00:40:09
Speaker
I will have to live through you because I do not have a PS5 yet. Soon, Ryan, soon. Well, I think with that, it's time for us to move on to what our main discussion yeah and recap of things this week in the Game Lounge. Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge. This old boy.
00:40:40
Speaker
It's that time of the year, folks. The third... third? Second? Because I guess nothing really happens in the spring. So I guess second of the big three game shows that happen a year. Gamescom opening night live! Because we had Summer Games Fest in the summer, Gamescom in the fall, and the Game Awards in the winter.
00:41:02
Speaker
Uh is the second one it oh boy. There's so much to cover ryan. Are you ready? I did I should ask first. Did you watch gamescom? I didn't watch gamescom But after when I saw like that's what we're gonna talk about I kind of like looked it up to see what was like getting announced so I know like a bit Of some of them but not probably as in depth as if I watched it All right. That's fair enough. Hey, it's stuff. I've had people on here when we've had to do these reviews that watch nothing at all. That was back with it was E3 when we had E3 still. And it was like I watched every show. Here's everything that happened. And it was like, man, you're crazy. Yes, I am. You think I'm doing this because I'm sane? No. I haven't been sane for four years.
00:41:57
Speaker
and Anyway, starting off with our pre-show. It was actually a solid pre-show. ah Started off, David Diver is i announced of the roadmap for the next three like ah collaboration events that the game is getting. It's getting to a collaboration with MXM Toon, who I believe is a YouTuber. Sounds like a YouTuber.
00:42:17
Speaker
I have no clue who they are. Then it's getting two games, two collabs with two games. Balochro, which is also letting you play Balochro within Dave the Diver and Motion Craft um is collabing with Dave the Diver as well. um So that's cool for Dave the Diver. I still need to play Dave the Diver.
00:42:35
Speaker
ive heard I've heard really good things about it, though. And it's on PlayStation Plus now as well, so I could play it for free. So it's like, I really should. I really should. But there's like so many other things I need to play. The gamer's dilemma. It is. It really is.
00:42:51
Speaker
Sniper Elite Resistance was revealed ah coming out next year as the next entry in the Sniper Elite franchise, which I say is great because testicle shots are back, baby. Whenever I see Sniper Elite name or like game, that's all I think about. It really is. It's like I couldn't tell you the storyline of anything. Just shot to the balls. That's all I think about. You shoot Hitler in the balls.
00:43:15
Speaker
that is that is the mean that is That's the plot what you do that there's nothing else that you do it's great Be gone the beast wasn't shown. This is a four-player Hackin comedy horror hacking slash. It's very car I say comedy horror cuz it's cartoony looking. Mm-hmm, but it's like you're dealing with like in a school It looks interesting. It's getting early access in February. Looks cool. Definitely check it out if you're into those hack and slash type games of co-op hack and slash. Then the most epic trailer for Road Construction Simulator, Roadcraft, was shown. That's what the host of the pre-show said as well. So I'm like, you know what? I'm going to take your word for it. That comes out next year in 2025.
00:44:02
Speaker
ah Nico Derrico, the magical world, comes out this October, right? Oh, fuck, I forgot they showed this. This looks like if Crash Bandicoot and Donkey Kong 64 had a baby. No, sorry, Donkey Kong Country had a baby. i you You have sold me now?
00:44:24
Speaker
This is, it looks interesting. Like it is you like there's 2D sections, 2D sections of like DK level-esque, but 3D sections of Bandicoot-esque. And I'm like, this looks nuts. I just see the poster for it and I can see exactly what you mean. It was kind of just like one of those trailers that was just kind of like glossed over. Like they didn't really talk much about it. I'm like, what the fuck? Talk more about this. Talk more about this. This looks amazing.
00:44:50
Speaker
Yeah, it says the yeah the from the music by Donkey Kong countries Dave Wise. Oh shit. I didn't know that that's cool. Fuck. I i am saving this game. I know Trio that that had a trailer ah because that release is September 19th. So they put out Wait. Oh, wait. I think it's out on certain consoles or so it's on certain things. It's coming out on another thing. Cause I'm like, wait, didn't I just say that it's coming out? It came out already. So unless it got delayed, because sometimes my list of what games came out and whatnot is not accurate, but okay. That's there. Um, regardless Karen, it was then shown off. It is a free climb climbing game. Like where you'll like scale like cliffs and shit.
00:45:45
Speaker
And it looks it looks really cool. This is coming from the... people somewhat i believe I don't know if it's developers or like part of the but a studio behind like Firewatch. But they're involved somehow in this. I can't remember specifically where.
00:46:05
Speaker
Uh, then we got a trailer for we harvest shadows, which put by the developer who had a death interview after the trailer, a first person farming horror allegory.
00:46:18
Speaker
Uh, and the demo for it's out now.
00:46:22
Speaker
So yeah if you like first person farming games and horror allegory games, this is the fusion of the two. It it looks interesting. like is It's like you're dealing with like Depression and but like you also see demons and shit ah And you're just in an abandoned farm living there and so you just far in but then there's also like and It's like you take a goat through some deep you like it looks like you're about to take a goat to get sacrifices like Jesus What the fuck? but that is It looks it looks interesting
00:46:58
Speaker
I don't know if I'm going to play it because I get spooked real easy, but it looks interesting. You could leave it to me. It's true. That's why we have Ryan here, guys. ah ah Then we got A.I.L.A., which is a horror game coming out 2025. I don't remember what was what that one was about. It's just I just remember saying horror like cool. ah Then Journey to the Savage Planet is getting a sequel, Revenge of the Savage Planet.
00:47:25
Speaker
So that comes out. They didn't give a release date for it, so don't know when. Then we got a trailer for Enzoy, which is a Sims clone, and the character creator for this is available now on Steam. So you can make yourself as a as a very sexy, handsome looking Sim. is like what it It looks crazy because it's like how realistic it looks, but it's also like realistic of like, ah yes, everyone's hot.
00:47:55
Speaker
Hmm Yeah, I don't know how I feel about this cuz like whenever I see sims games that aren't like the sims I'm like I feel like cha I feel like the Chinese government is somehow involved in this someone's watching me ah yeah exactly exactly I just i I get that thing I'm just like I don't want to touch it because of that even though it may not be the case It's just like I don't know if I really trusted that much understandable And also there could there could be a bit of AI involved in this, too, because it looks too fucking like like it feels like there's AI. it It looks like there's AI involved in this, too. I'm just like, I'm just going to stay away. This ain't for me, chief. This ain't it. um We they got to do each other for Tribe 9, which you can wishlist now. Tribe 9 is the next game by the Danganronpa people um or like part part of the Danganronpa team, because you can tell by their art style of ah this. It's like, oh, if you played the Danganronpa games, you recognize this.
00:48:52
Speaker
um We then got a new trailer for directive 8020, which is a dark pictures games part of the dark pictures anthology And then we got the Terry gameplay reveal first Street Fighter 6 and he looks good like but's it's Terry Bogart folks Of course is gonna be good And that wrapped up our pre-show. It was a good pre-show. Like, honestly, it was a solid pre-show. That's a lot. It's a lot for the pre-show, too. ah But of course, that's not even ah scratch a It's the one the main show gave us. So the main show comes on. Jeff Keeley walks out. Elle Crown goes, yeah, Jeff! Woo!
00:49:30
Speaker
Yeah, Jeff. He talked about, you know, it's a trying time in the game industry because of all the layoffs and whatnot. It's like good. Keep acknowledging that because if you don't, we will get mad at you, Jeff. It's just how it is. You're you're the fate. you You are like one of the big faces of the industry. You got to talk about that shit. Like it or not, you have to. You got it. You got it. You're in that position, Jeff. It's just it's just the way you got to be.
00:49:58
Speaker
um And then he's like, hey, take a look at this. This didn't get leaked. And I'm like, oh? And I, would you know, it's exciting news. But last week we reported on the Borderlands movie doing absolutely dog shit. It was at 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. yeah It's now like at nine. I've heard, or at least like saw some TikToks of people being like, these were actual quotes from the movie. And I was like, oh no. yeah this like This is like some like family channel 2000s movie.
00:50:33
Speaker
like When they announced the casting, I'm like, the only cast I like in this is Jack Black as Claptrap. Everything the everything else made no sense, aside from Tiny Tina, because it's like i can't I didn't know her actress, so I could not judge yeah on her. But I'm like, Cate Blanchett as Lilith? One, that makes no sense. That's a huge age gap as well, because Lilith is like only in her 20s, if not 30s, and Cate Blanchett is much older.
00:50:59
Speaker
and does not look how she does as she did at her prime and I'm like that was honestly it was just a bad casting choice I think for Lilith and then Kevin Hart as Roland I'm like no just no you could have had Kevin Hart as like I don't know, his own character, but not Roland. Roland is not, you can't have Kevin. i'm i will I think the only serious role I've ever seen Kevin Hart in is that one with, ah I was going to say Walter White with Brian.
00:51:31
Speaker
Um, I know who you're talking brian kranston. Thank you kranston Where kranston's character is like this billionaire who's you know? Who's like essentially like paralyzed from the waist down Or paralyzed from the neck down and like kevin hart becomes his caretaker I don't know how well that movie did or what the reviews said by him like that's the only time i've ever seen kevin hart in like a serious role And I'm like, he's not action serious role? I'm like, yeah, no. this is yeah this was i this Roland was is not the role for Kevin Hart. just I'm just gonna say it. But like also, writing is a was a big thing as well with this movie. Regardless, if it was a better time, and you know the movie if the movie wasn't out yet, or you know it was good reviews, I think this would have had like a really hype reveal. But Borderlands 4 is coming out next year.
00:52:22
Speaker
which is really cool. Despite the third game maybe not having the best story, the gameplay is still great. You know what you're getting with a Borderlands game is fun, fast, looter-shooter action. And you know what? I'm excited for it.
00:52:39
Speaker
Because I played Borderlands for the gameplay, not the story.
00:52:44
Speaker
ah Then we got some Black Ops 6 stuff comes out October 25th. There's gonna be a multiplayer beta at the end of the month. They showed off a campaign mission. um And they're gonna be showing more as well because it's gonna be like a Call of Duty event. um I believe sometime in September, I think they said. ah For more stuff that they'll show off. And then!
00:53:08
Speaker
A remaster I did not think you were actually going to get ever here. But you know what? I'm glad they're doing it. Goat Simulator remastered is coming this year. ah I played so I believe what this remaster is doing is they're putting the original game in the goat simulator free engine.
00:53:32
Speaker
And with all the DLCs and everything all in one. And you know what? I think that's great because the original Goatsim is a gem of a game and I will absolutely play a remastered one.
00:53:47
Speaker
Goatsim can do no wrong. It's such an interesting thing to remaster in 2024. it is oh It absolutely is. It absolutely is. It's a very interesting choice. It is. ah We then got another trailer for Persona 3 reload episode, I guess, and they revealed a brand new detail that we are getting a challenge battle in the DLC Joker from Persona 5. So now we can fight him like we could fight Persona 3, Makoto and Narokami in Persona 5 Royal.
00:54:25
Speaker
because we can fight them through the velvet room. So we will fight Joker now through some means. And people are people were a bit upset with this reveal because they're like, this is going to be like the only memorable thing out of the DLC because it's going to be challenging as fuck. I'm like, well, yeah, they're going to make it realistically, they're going to make it challenging because hope Elizabeth was I couldn't even beat Elizabeth. Thankfully, it wasn't required for the platinum. But it's like, I'm like, I'm not going to build a specific team to beat Elizabeth. That's fucking hard, time consuming.
00:54:57
Speaker
um But Joker is definitely gonna be a challenge to beat, but eh, is what it is. We then got a trailer revealing Dying Light the Beast, a brand new entry in the Dying Light series, which I believe you play as the character from the first game. I don't know the Dying Light franchise that well. I played the first one briefly.
00:55:18
Speaker
It's a game that i've I've heard really good things about but I yeah, I've heard like I've heard want things about them They're big parkour II and now you get a third a third entry. That's like a shorter entry as well um nice um Then we got some black with Wukong watch trailer. It's out now go play it ah And then we got a trailer for King of Meat where you get to create dungeons, there's four-player co-op, and it's basically a cartoonier version of... Oh, fuck. It's another game I can't remember, but it's basically a similar thing where you create dungeons and you got co-op to go do, um except it's cartoony gore instead of, like, ah realism gore. um So that that's coming out sometime. I don't remember if they set a date or not.
00:56:07
Speaker
um Then we got a trailer for Linked Banner of the Spark at Co-op Action Hack and Slash. It comes out October 22nd in Early Access. ah The devs came out to talk about it. It was it was you beat up the bad robots to help build your civilization of good robots.
00:56:25
Speaker
Interesting. Yeah ah Then we got a trailer for lost records bloomin rage a two part two episode two part episode game ah Tape one comes up February 18th and tape two comes up March 18th Um, and it's about like a childhood band that they're meeting up again as adults and some mystery is going down, involving them because they find a package that's like whatied with their name on it and whatnot. It's like, whoa, what the fuck? Yeah. So yeah, that's what we got there. Uh, we got a new trailer for no more room in hell too. Uh,
00:57:08
Speaker
And then we got a whole bunch of stuff. oh boy Our creators, a game coming out in 2025, play tests coming this fall. Infinity Nikki got a new trailer. ah We kind of got a better idea of what the game really is, because yeah I believe when we first saw this game, I'm like, oh, this is like Princess Peach Showtime, but anime.
00:57:30
Speaker
It's still kind of is but it's got more to do with the mythical animal creatures And I'm like, I still don't really know what this is now. ah You can sign up for the core confused I am thought you can sign up for the closed beta now Space marine 2 you can pre-order now September 9th that comes out path of exile to early access November 15th Dude awakening we got gameplay for the first time ah Which comes out early 2025?
00:57:59
Speaker
And the game looks all right. They're packaging. They're talking about it as like a MMORPG, essentially, where you and your friends can essentially form a a clan, a line. I don't know. Have you seen the doing movies or read the books, Ryan? I've seen the movies. Yeah. OK. Yeah. So basically you're forming a clan, joining one of the big factions. And then like it's a set it's like a You get your own instance area where you and your friends are safe to play and whatnot, build bases and all that stuff. And then there's a giant open area where you go fight for spice and summon sand worms. That's what the grasp of it is from what I've gathered. i'm like and so it's
00:58:49
Speaker
I would be more into it if it was just the base building aspect of that, because I like that. And I'm like, oh, this looks cool. New stuff like that. That'll get my fixing. But i the m MMO part of it, of like everybody's fighting for the spice. I'm like, is it paprika? Pepper? Coriander? We'll never know. We'll never know. We'll never know.
00:59:17
Speaker
Um, then we got a trailer for re animal. This is from a little nightmare devs. This looks cool. I saw this. Yeah. I figured you would considering this is a right up your alley of horror. Um,
00:59:29
Speaker
Yeah. what What are your thoughts on the trailer? ah i like At first, I thought it was just going to be like another little I was expecting it to be like little nightmares because it adds that has like the obviously the exact same style because it's the creators of it.
00:59:49
Speaker
Yeah, but I'm like I it just looks I the thing that I love about them is that it's like all the creepy stuff just happens like in the background a lot of the time like uh Even just like in the trailer just seeing like all these like weird. What was it like? sheep thing Oh, yeah, yeah I don't even know i Like explain it just like all these weird like sheep and pigs and like I don't even know what so I I couldn't even tell what this is going to be about. But I think it's also co-op, right? I believe so. I think it's. I think it it looks like there was. So I think so. I'm i'm liking that they're doing these co-op things now, because I think even because I'm sure you always say it soon, but Little Nightmares 3, I believe, is is also going to be. Yeah, they we'll talk about that now. Little Nightmares 3 was also shown off at the show later in the show, but you can wishlist that game now.
01:00:47
Speaker
um We also got Monster Under Wilds, a new trailer. It comes out next year. People are excited for this. It's a very anticipated game from Capcom. Naraka Blade Point is collaborating with Tomb Raider, and that collaboration drops August 28th. Byshir and I, it was revealed for Fatal Fury, City of the Wolves. Becca Break got a brand new trailer. And then the most annoying news that they showed off First, Monument Valley 3 got revealed and it's coming out December 10th, which is great. The shitty thing is, it's being put exclusively on Netflix games. What? The fuck? When did Netflix acquire that shit?
01:01:30

Like, I'm genuinely mad because I played the first two. And the first two monument value-making games are coming to Netflix games as well. Can't remember what dates they're coming to it, but they're coming as well. But it's exclusively Netflix games! It's so stupid. It's so stupid. I don't understand. Like, I don't even have a Netflix subscription anymore.
01:01:53
Speaker
I had the cheapest one. I got the one with the heads because I didn't want to pay any more. Like legit, it's this isn't this. It's why. Like, as if it, you know, if it means that it's gonna be, if it's a timed exclusivity, I'm fine if it's timed exclusivity. But if it's just 100% only gonna be on Netflix games, I feel like that's just like, you've killed your game. Honestly, like, I think they'll realize that it's like, oh, we should probably put it on Steam too, and then the world will be happy again. Why isn't our game doing anything? Why is no one playing it?
01:02:26
Speaker
This is Netflix's genius idea to bring people to Netflix games. Monument Valley 3, guys. That's gonna bring us the users. It's weird. yeah ah Then we got our first look at gameplay for Civilization 7. The game drops February 11, 2025, where you too can play eight-hour games with your friends on building up a civilization.
01:02:54
Speaker
um Then we got a bigger star field the rev 8 buggy update for free. It's free update coming to the game and also shattered space ah They gave a release date to that DLC September 30th Then we got some Marvel Rivals ah character reveals two more characters Captain America and the winter soldier Bucky Barnes ah that the game comes out officially December 6th and Then we got like a real legit like one of the coolest announcements at the show secret level this is a 15 episode series coming to Amazon Prime December 10th of very it like so Little so little stories within the games that we love
01:03:37
Speaker
Mm-hmm all animated like to peek like this looks Incredible is covering like different franchises like ah God of War is in there like I actually I got a double check like what of What's actually yeah, what's actually looking up to secret level? Oh They have it here. and Yeah war hammer Concord Mega Man on real tournament new world a turn of armored armored core Spelunky honor of Kings seafood D and&D the outer world's crossfire Exodus and a bunch of PlayStation Oh
01:04:20
Speaker
Oh, yes. That's pretty cool. This it looks so sick. This this is it it looks great. I'm excited. I think Amazon Prime legit. They have two things I'm excited for now. So you know what they're doing something Netflix. You need to take note. Do better. Uh, we got a trailer for Delta forest, which is coming to early access sometime this year, a new trailer for kingdom come deliverance to February 11 is when that releases. And then we got our, our, uh,
01:04:54
Speaker
Our Hoyaverse corner, Hoyaverse segment. Zebazone Zero revealed the brand new area that they're adding. Genshin had a trailer as well, revealing that it's coming to Xbox. So it's finally going to be on five the third of the systems.
01:05:16
Speaker
And Hawkeye Starrail revealed their new character that's coming and also revealed that is collaborating with Face State Night, the anime. Interesting. Uh, specifically, I believe it's Archer that is going to be added to Hawkeye star rail. So yeah, think that that is cool. I stopped playing Hawkeye because, uh, Hoya verse has, I, I, I can't play gacha games anymore because my wallet feels emptier every time I do.
01:05:51
Speaker
I know those pains. um We then got a new gameplay trailer for Batman Arkham Shadow, the VR Batman game that's coming out in October. And I mean, it looks so it looks cool. I mean, I'm not gonna knock it. I mean, people are bad because it's just VR. But honestly, if you like Batman enough, you'll buy a VR set to play the game. Nice. We then got a trailer for Herdlings, which comes out 2025, which looks interesting.
01:06:18
Speaker
it It's one of the one of the standout ones for me. ah And then, well oh boy, my voice cracked there, jeez. He's excited. Peter Molyneux came out and he said, hey folks, I've been working on a new game with a small team of devs. It's called Masters of Albion. And of course Peter Molyneux, the creator of Fable and Dungeon Keeper,
01:06:47
Speaker
This revealed Masters of Albion, a brand new open world God game, where by day you're playing God, building your village, upgrading things, doing doing stuff like that a God does. And by night you can ah take control, take over like your your towns folks and fight monsters off, or you can use your God powers to spite the monsters and protect your village as well.
01:07:13
Speaker
That just sounds really cool. It does. It looks really cool as well. um So excited for that. And then Netflix Games came back out and said, oh, hey, ah we got Squid Game Unleashed.
01:07:25
Speaker
and Like just in case if people weren't excited in case the eye you guys aren't excited for the new season of squid game Which I still I never watched squid game. I'm just I don't know if I've ever said that I never watched squid game s i game It was good, but i I heard it was good I just like like it only needed one it was good with one season and then I feel like because it got hype Everyone's like it needs another one. It's like no, it's done and done. That's fine. That's Like, I don't understand it. We've been on each other for Unknown Nine Awakening, which comes out October 18th. Arena Breakout Infinite got a trailer, and then we got our Blizzard block, which I've broken down into three things. WoW is celebrating 30 years, and I think they talked a bit about the war within. Overwatch 2 is getting a World of Warcraft crossover for skins, and they gave us a new trailer for Diablo 4, Vessel of Hatred. That was it.
01:08:20
Speaker
Thank you Blizzard by Blizzard, I don't care about Blizzard. We got a new trailer for the first Berserker Kazan, ah which it looks like our boy Ben Starr is the main voice actor for, which is exciting. Ben Starr is Clive Rossfield in Final Fantasy XVI.
01:08:41
Speaker
He is an incredible voice actor. ah Go check that out. Darken Darker is getting a mobile game. That's all they really said. For Cozy Game Enjoyers, they showed off Floatopia, a Sky Island Cozy game where you live on a Sky Island and you get to customize the island to your liking. There's farming and other things as well. There you go.
01:09:05
Speaker
um Then we got a massive trailer for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. We got some gameplay finally. And also, if you didn't know it already, Troy Baker is Indiana Jones. He got the role. He is our Indian.
01:09:21
Speaker
The game comes out December 9th for Xbox and PC and it's spring next year for PlayStation 5 because they're not making it an Xbox exclusive ah Good. Thank you Bethesda. Thank you And then we got the one more thing mafia, the old country, which we're getting more details for at the game awards in December, most likely. Um, and the game awards themselves, December 12th, marketing your calendars. And that was it. That was the show. That was games, calm opening night life.
01:10:01
Speaker
And you know what? It was all right. There was a lot of cool. It was ah it was a nice little balanced roller coaster of some cool stuff and some yeah stuff, which is better to have a balanced one than a. Oh, that's a lot of big dips. Yeah, that's true. It could have been way worse. It could have been absolutely worse. But to yeah, no, it was good. um what What are your thoughts on it, Ryan? What were your what what what are your final thoughts? What what what's ah what are the days? What are the days? I think I am more excited for all like the horror games because that's it's just I feel like that's just in me to be wanting to play all all of those, yeah especially Little Nightmares 3.
01:10:47
Speaker
and um And what's it was the other one called the reanimal re animal re animal those ones I'm i'm excited for I'm scrolling through the list to see I think Netflix is the nay just a given Yeah oh One I'm most what I'm most surprised by is the goat simulator Yeah, no surprise. oh God, the reveal trailer for it was great, though. God, like there's a carriage that like it's a prison of like games trapped in like like for remake, remake, remaster, prison or whatever. And like there's a carriage that goes by and it's the the oh, you're finally so you're finally awake.
01:11:33
Speaker
and It's like, oh, it's it's the Skyrim intro. Yeah, it goes by like a couple of times just to joke about how many times scatter I would also say the other name would just be Blizzard because it's Blizzard. And then for Overwatch, they're like, we put our other game in this game, guys. Isn't that cool? No, it's not.
01:11:55
Speaker
the Only good thing Blizzard is that overwatch 2 is done is give us the the cancer skins where the ah funds for it go to the cancer research. Yeah but I think Just just work on fixing your games first how about how How about you? I don't know maybe try putting that skill player thing that people wanted instead of killing it. I don't know Wasn't that the big thing? and now And now you guys are doing tests to break back the 66 mode, which is what Overwatch 1 was? It's crazy. It's insane. They're just like, hey, everything that you guys said you want, what if we just got rid of it, but we'll put ah World of Warcraft skins. Yeah? And everyone's like, no, we don't give a shit. And they're like, hey, you get your WoW skins.
01:12:40
Speaker
Listen to the community for once. Do you think Blizzard listens? <unk> ah Like Microsoft is doing their best with that, but like it's just... You should have just let it burn to the ground, honestly. like ah Um, for me, um, my big things, Nico Derrico, that's, I am going to wishlist that after we were record. Actually, you know what? Before I fucking forget, Nico Derrico. I'm wishlisting that right now.
01:13:18
Speaker
Because if I don't, I'm going to forget. um That looks great. That looks cool. So that's, that was the top one for me. ah Karen looks cool. I'm definitely going to check that one out. Borderlands 4, easy one. Goat Master, yes.
01:13:34
Speaker
ah Oh, and Squirrel with a gun. Squirrel with a gun? Well, I mean, that's just coming out. That wasn't a feature. That's just a gimme. Obviously, if they showed Squirrel with a gun, it would have been over for everything else. Nothing would have lived up to it. Actually, you know what I'm disappointed we didn't see? We didn't get to see Killer killer Bean wasn't here. Oh.
01:13:57
Speaker
Weird. They didn't show any more details for Killer Bean and I'm a little disappointed. I would have loved to see more Killer Bean like we did at Summer Game Fest. That reveal absolutely bonkers. But yeah, um it was a good show ah overall. I'm excited for a good chunk of those things um and hope they don't suck. Yes. That's that's the main thing. Yeah.
01:14:24
Speaker
Yeah, remember Devs, if you have to delay a game, but it's okay. Honestly, I would much prefer you delay it and make it better than release it half-assed and then be like, we'll patch it. Yep. All right. Well, with that, I think it's time for us to move on to our second topic of the day.

01:15:32
Speaker
which is all about Ryan! Yay!
01:15:36
Speaker
ah Specifically to the duality of Mack Ryan Mack, because he's been playing two things, Mario Odyssey and the Elder Drink DLC, which is ah such a polar opposite to each other. Yeah, it's very weird when people are are like, what games do you play? I'm like, well, I don't just play one thing. It's like I have a switch, I have my PC, I have Xbox, I have PlayStation. I just want to play everything. And then I think this proves it because I feel like I've struggled equally with both of these games.
01:16:06
Speaker
both of these Yeah, let's start with ah what I would say is easier of the two, because I found it pretty easy when I did it. ah But 100% think Super Mario Odyssey, because that's what you've been doing.
01:16:19
Speaker
Yes, I actually I just finished it this week. Hey, let's go. I got the 999 stars, all costumes, bought everything. All that's done. And oh, my God, it takes so long. It the think is is that it's not like too hard to do. It's just so time consuming. It's time consuming. It's suddenly coin grinding at the end. Yes. Final costumes is yes the most consuming part because it's either you you either do like a set path that gets you a good amount of coins.
01:16:49
Speaker
Or you do balloon mode to get a bunch of coins as well. At first I did the Bowser's Kingdom that like sub area. I did that a bit and then someone was like go go do balloons. It'll be much faster. And so I started doing that and it is much faster. But it's like what balloon is going to be the easiest for me to get to keep a streak alive so then I can just continue to get more coins.
01:17:13
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, because you were also playing with just like a set controller and not the individual Joy-Cons to get like maximum speed of shaking them. Yeah. Yeah, I just had my controller and it's funny because like obviously like you can still shake and stuff for. Yeah, it's not as effective. No, but like my God, there's some I think after a while because I was just grinding coins and like doing that and I was like, my wrist is starting to hurt.
01:17:39
Speaker
Yeah, oh sure that that was the case with me with Mario when I played Mario Odyssey Years ago now cuz I got I played it right when I got my switch It was like the first thing I did I specifically got the switch all the games I was gonna play and I got specifically the Bowser Wedding amiibo because if you used it it would reveal the purple coins Oh my god, that would have been so much easier because it was so annoying. It was already kind of annoying. i should it Granted, this part is my fault because I looked up a guide to like find where all the moons are because I'm like, I don't want to spend time like having to try to find where everything is. And in my head, I thought that the guide would have them in like
01:18:18
Speaker
order order of convenience of like nop all of these are close by but it was done in order of like the moon names so like one you would go like one place and then you'd go complete opposite side of the map and then have to go back to the other side and i was like i i could find another guide but now i'm just like too into it it's fine so that part was annoying because then I would just do some that I knew were around like if you see a pipe or like a door I'm like I'm just gonna do this now since I'm here but the guide saying to like go to the complete opposite side of the map but I was in hopes of like finding all the regional coins throughout doing all moon stuff but then some of them I guess not so then I would look up a video and I'm like please just the three that I need just be at the beginning of this video so I don't have to sit here for 10 minutes to like find where this is
01:19:06
Speaker
Yeah, no about the Bowser amiibo I believe there was like another way I believe you could like pay coins to like one of the Like help us to find coin locations or mood hints as well. It's been so long since I've touched again.
01:19:22
Speaker
It's it was it was ah because I start the reason that I started doing it is all I needed to do it for a stream anyway But then I had to do a 24-hour stream I'm like what is gonna take the most time and surprisingly it was the two two games that were talking 24-hour stream and Mario Odyssey took up so much of it because I played it a year ago and beat it but I only had like 300 and something moons So I had a long way to go. And there's definitely not even like 999 moons to find. It's like 900 something and then you just purchase. And then you buy one hundred and nineteen, yeah which is I was like, whoever made this sucks.
01:20:03
Speaker
like why like like why would you not Like with Luigi update, why not just add like a bunch of other moons to like to just wrap it up and give us the 999 or even like a thousand if you wanted to with that. Honestly, yeah, it was just it was really weird just being like now I have to grind coins to go to the store and buy. Luckily, you can buy in like 10. So you can buy 10 or 10. Yeah, 10 moons at a time.
01:20:28
Speaker
So I'm like, thank God for like that. But whoever decided that you have to buy the rest of them. I hate you. Yeah. Yeah. No, I can't. Oh, God, I don't even remember how long it took me to do um everything. It was definitely over

Elden Ring and Super Mario Odyssey Gameplay

01:20:43
Speaker
24 hours. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So long. I think it should be like a good like week or two like of hardcore playing it. Yeah. It was it was a lot lot time. And then just because I like played Elden Ring first. And then when I finished that, because I only had the last boss left and then I played Mario Odyssey for the last of it at the end of the like 24 hours, there's some moons. I just went and did like all this easy stuff because I'm like, my brain cannot function like
01:21:11
Speaker
to do all of this I had to relearn all the controls too of like how to do certain jumps and whatnot because like I haven't played the game for a year so that that took a long time of doing like I'm like how do I cappy jump again and I had to relearn that it was a whole thing in itself but it is finally done And I'm like, thank God, I'm never looking at this game. Never have to touch this again. I can wait for the next mainline Mario game, which honestly, I will say this, but honestly, honestly has like one of the best like movement sets for Mario in any any game.
01:21:46
Speaker
It like I enjoyed everything I thought it was really well done it I didn't realize how insane you sound when you explain Mario Odyssey to someone because my girlfriend was like what is Mario Odyssey, and I'm like well well During one of Mario's classic. I'm a fight your Bowser. Yeah, I was just like sorry Mario I'm gonna punch you off of my ship and send you somewhere far away from the Mushroom Kingdom And he's like oh, no mama me uh now i'm in a hatterville with all these a ghosta hats and uh one of them stole my hat is now living in my hat as we go save a um and then you know he's trying to marry peach and he's going to all these like different worlds to get certain items just like what are you talking about like i just tried to make the perfect wedding yeah on honestly if someone did that for me
01:22:38
Speaker
I, too you know, peace should be more grateful is all I'm saying. I still love how at the end of it, when like ah Bowser and Mario, like after you like beat the game, the final cutscene and they're like fighting with each other and they're like trying to give her flowers and she just walks away. Yeah. Like fuck, fuck both of you. Like I don't need this. I don't need this. I'm going back to the mushroom kingdom.
01:23:05
Speaker
I was like, Oh, okay. Bye. but by pete Bye. Bye. Yeah. they They really, they thought that the boys fumbled the bangs on that one. That all out honestly, I think they just need each other. I think that's it. Honestly. Yeah. like I mean, it's certain fan artists with the bet was Bousette. I mean,
01:23:30
Speaker
They kind of do, but like, I don't think Nintendo cause because there's a candy. I don't think. Yeah, I don't think Nintendo is putting that at the forefront. You see, that's the funnier thing is like, like when we think of like Mario, like Bowser does come to mind. It's like, that's technically not even cannon.
01:23:46
Speaker
but Like yeah Bowser never put on that crown. bows That's not even a real Mario character. It's just the internet made it that way. Everyone wants it to be. Everyone wants it to be. It's just like, huh, God, this is what happens. This is what happens when you make the internet too horny.

Pandemic Concerns and Gaming Futures

01:24:03
Speaker
Yeah, but then again, that's the world we're living in now still surprisingly Like I get it when we were in covid I get it everyone's horny I get it understandable lockdown. You're in your and house. You're stuck sadggling exactly. Exactly. Oh, okay. Actually speaking of lockdowns, so i You're gonna be like speaking of horny Speaking of ah no speaking of lockdowns. I don't know. I don't know how real this but per I look I won if you're in if you know this stuff m pox m pox has been all right these by WHO is like a new pandem not like yeah like it's it's a serious thing pandemic. I don't know if it's a pandemic yet or whatever, but it's like People are talking that there's gonna be another locked in and I'm like no, please no
01:24:50
Speaker
Please no. I don't want to do it again. Downtown Toronto now. I can't deal. I can't deal with that. Please no. I don't want to be here with there's another lockdown. And like here's ah it like this is a disease that's been around like we've known about this one like for a lot longer. Yes. And like we've been dealing with it. There is like a vaccine out for this been a vaccine for this one for like a long time too. So it's like I don't think that's going to be the case but like I really hope there isn't because I don't want to I don't want to add the question, what are you hoping with the lockdown ends again? Like I did with like the first season of this podcast of like, I i just hope it's over. ah and Yeah. um Anyway, what are you hoping for the next mainline Mario game? Because obviously the Switch 2
01:25:37
Speaker
we We are in the timeline of them announcing what the next Nintendo console is between now and April of next year. We will know what the next Nintendo console is. So what are you hoping for in the next mainline Mario game? I like I really did enjoy Odyssey. I feel like uh like the whole concept of it and having like the different world and stuff was like really cool i did thoroughly enjoy that it would actually be insane if they did like a breath of the wild kind of thing and had like an open world mario game
01:26:14
Speaker
I think that would be sick if and like similar to Odyssey but everything's like laid out on like one map I think that would be like insane I would love that um but I just kind of hope that they go in the the same direction of like I love all like even like the was it the wonder Um like stuff like that that they do like the side scrolling. Oh, yeah. well Yeah one wonder was great I yeah like and like i'm bad at 2d mario games so it was actually like a really good balance of like difficulty and like Like it was like good. Like I was like so i'm like yo i'm going at this. Hello. Yeah I like that they've been doing that but I I want them to do something similar like again I guess it's kind of similar like odyssey is like uh
01:27:00
Speaker
the Super Mario 64 in a way where you go into like yeah like that is like what we consider Mario there's two mainline series you have it's 2d Mario series Yeah, I hope that they do another 3d. Oh, yeah, like we know like with every iteration. There's always like one 3d Mario like ever since the yeah because it was it was Mario 64 that sunshine then galaxy that And galaxy and galaxy 2 we got lucky. Yeah, we you gave us 3d world, but if 3ds gave us 3d land um And then s switch gave us Odyssey Yeah, so that's I'm like, I don't know if that I wonder if they will do an Odyssey 2, but then I don't know like I
01:27:46
Speaker
Honestly, people would really want Odyssey 2 or Galaxy 3. Yeah. And honestly, i would he more I would love like, I would love either of them, but I i am on the side leading more of the Galaxy 3.
01:28:00
Speaker
Like especially now the galaxy games yet. They're on my list though. So I have to play them and I will play them Good good. Yeah, the gal the galaxy games are great. Like I love the first one more than the second one just because of the hub world um And I just think it has more memorable levels for me that the second one does ah But like I really wanted galaxy 3 now because I've actually I At the time of recording this, by the time I'm listening to this, I'll probably have it platinumed because I only have to collect three more things. But I finally picked up ahead of time. And ahead of time, its hub is like Galaxy. Its mission style is like Galaxy. But the level loading thing is like Sunshine. And I'm just like, oh, this is so cool, actually.
01:28:50
Speaker
And it's like, oh, so I think it'd be so cool if they did like an open world Mario game, like Breath of the Wild kind of style, like Danin's Castle is like Bowser's Castle. And like, I think that would be really cool. i would It would be ambitious. It would would be the most ambitious Mario game.
01:29:08
Speaker
to see it like that. But I think you it could be the coolest thing. It would be so cool just to have like the open world of like everything. But I doubt that they would do that. They'd probably just do like Odyssey 2 and like do similar kingdoms slightly different because that's what I'm like trying to think of them like they kind of covered every terrain.
01:29:27
Speaker
and yeah which Which is what Mario's don't but it's like that's like if you look at any Mario game past

Elden Ring's DLC Challenges

01:29:34
Speaker
the original ones there's always a motif for each world of um great great Like grass like kingdom grasslands Desert, ice, fire, sky, beach, the underwater. Yeah. And yeah, like all those motifs and they'll make a couple new ones like they did with Odyssey like city.
01:30:00
Speaker
Yeah, that one still weirds me out that there's like actual humans in that are canon in Mario now. I mean, but to be fair, Peaches, hum Peach and Daisy are like regular humans because they're like but like i mean like they seem like Sims like the people in ah Metro Kingdom when you speak to them and they're like speaking. so yes but the but yeah Yeah. Like this is weird seeing a normal sized human in a Mario game.
01:30:28
Speaker
Yeah, kind of is. That'll never, you know what? Give us a game where it's, we play as the regular human doing Mario things. And when we do a triple jump, we triple jump into a flip. And when we land on our feet, we break our legs. Make it that realistic. That's what we need. That's what we need.
01:30:47
Speaker
um Okay, moving on to our second one, because I think that's a good Mario chat. That's everything we can really say about Mario at this point. Elden Ring, Shadow of the Air Tree DLC. How was it? How did it compare to base Zelda things? It was, again, similar to Odyssey. I went in after not playing the game for a while.
01:31:09
Speaker
Luckily, I already had access to the DLC because I think you probably know that not a lot of people did. You had to be not um Moog, the like blood guy. Yeah. Forget the other one. But they're one of them or maybe both of them weren't necessarily main bosses. that you Yeah, they were like they were off the beaten path. You didn't have to. You could beat Elden Ring without beating them.
01:31:32
Speaker
So luckily, I already beat both of them. So I had access right away and I'm like, thank God. One of the one of the 19 percent of the player base. I got really lucky on that. um But it was funny because when I first went in, I didn't realize that they had like they mentioned the scatter, whatever those fragments are and like things that you have to like find throughout the thing. I don't think I really read it. I was just like too excited to like get into the game.
01:32:02
Speaker
Um, i'm not sure how familiar you are with what those are but like so by my experience with elder ring because I do own it Yeah, i've played I think it was like I played more than enough time So I couldn't get a refund of it um Okay, like I think it was like just ah over i'm like damn it. I can't refund this So I guess it's just living in my library forever Yeah, but I own it and I think one day i'll maybe actually give it a serious chance But like, I thought that fucking that first guy on a horse, like immediately sent no. Yeah, immediately after the tutorial area. Yeah, that that was where my two hours went.
01:32:42
Speaker
It's so funny because he's not even a mandatory thing, but I feel like because they taunt you with having him at the very beginning of the game, you're like, I have to do this. Like I i have to kill this thing. Yeah. But that's how my completionist brain works. Same. But they had like ah these like fragments that you would have to find because essentially when you go into the DLC, you're weaker.
01:33:06
Speaker
until and then once you start finding those fragments is how you get like strength back so i was so confused as to when base level enemies would kill me in two hits and i'm like what the fuck is this dlc like this is impossible and then i realized after that it's like oh i have to go and like find these things to like put back or whatever in like, you just sit down at a, I always still call it a bonfire just cause it's like built in. Yeah. that' It's a soul thing to say. Yeah. Um, but you just have to sit down there and like level it up. Like you do like a flask essentially and then you get like, you're kind of like stronger to everything. But at first I'm like, why am I getting two shotted by everything? Like this is absolutely insane, but it was definitely, I think much harder than base game.
01:33:56
Speaker
uh even a lot of the bosses were absolutely insane so like i was like how is this even remotely possible and then even with the last boss like i had to i went through so many different builds and then it got to the point where i was like you know what let me just look up a cheese guide to try to like just cheese this and of course as soon as i get the build they patch it and and they're like no this build now is like useless so like we suggest this one i'm like if you gotta be joking i just want to beat this game please it was uh yeah it was absolutely insane but uh very satisfying when you do finally beat bosses or just
01:34:40
Speaker
Finally finished the game the last boss. I think it was definitely One of if not the hardest boss I think I've ever fought in a Souls game just because of the absolute insanity of the second phase But my god um Would recommend it
01:35:05
Speaker
and Yeah. um How long did it take you to beat the DLC? I don't even know. Like I was keeping track of my deaths. And I was your final death count.
01:35:16
Speaker
I don't know anymore because after I started going into the last boss, I just gave up. I lost all like will to live and just stopped keeping track after a while. And ah fine like at the beginning of the 24-hour stream I did, I'm like, let's start with this because I feel like it's going to take a long time. And it took me two hours to like do it at that point. Wow. So I don't even know how many deaths I had, probably well over like probably close or well over 300 like around there. Not too bad, but also much more than I did in the base game. I think in the base Elden Ring game, I only died like a hundred and eighty ish times. That's not bad. Yeah. Like for how big Elden Ring isn't for being a FromSoft game. That's not bad. i was So I was I was happy with that. And I went into the DLC assuming the same thing. And then I think I probably died that many times to the last pause.
01:36:14
Speaker
It was absolutely insane like I think he was the heart hardest boss in the the DLC ah my other biggest boss just for me was the camera in the game. The lock-on was so many of the bosses are like dancy and like, just like spin around and everything. Yeah, that the camera becomes more of a hindrance in the house. Yeah, so like the one where I first noticed it was like the the first
01:36:49
Speaker
I think I guess it might be kind of like the first boss that you can run into was like the That like dragon thing or not Drake Dragon off the bat. You know, it's not it's not ah It's like dancing something divine beasts dancing lion. Sorry. That's what it is. But it has like a Uh, it reminded me of like, you know, um, the like kind of dancing dragon that they have at like festivals in like China and stuff like that. It kind of looked like that, but with a lion's head on it. And the way that it moved was very like spinny and everything. And I'm like, my camera's just like spinning a log with it. I'm like, okay, we need to calm down here. I need to actually see what I'm doing. So some fights, like it was weirdly beneficial to unlock.
01:37:37
Speaker
from the the boss at times because the one that i noticed it the most was bale the dread which is a dragon at the top of a peak where you fight like three dragons along the way but this camera because typically with dragons you can like target onto different parts of their body like you could target like their legs or like something else just so it's stagnant but him you could only target onto his head So your camera is just constantly whipping around and you're like, I can't focus on anything because there's fire happening. He's moving around. So my camera's like spinning like 180 or like just constantly moving. I was like, I just want this fight to be done. I was, I was of the mindset of, I don't care. I'm summoning mimics to make this easier for myself. I don't care how frowned upon it is. I just want to beat this.

Creative Playstyles in Elden Ring

01:38:35
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. ah that I mean, fuck. I don't have the patience of a lot of like Souls players. I can't do it. like I can't. I tried. I can't. I tried twice, technically, because I tried Bloodborne as well. And they're just not food out for me, Chief. Bloodborne is a lot lot more grindy.
01:39:01
Speaker
Yeah, I commend y'all for ah being able to do that. Yeah, at at the end, I just essentially ended up going for a build where I would just tank everything. like I offstream found a shield that like negated all physical damage, so if you got hit while blocking, you don't take any damage. And then I just went and got all these like spells and buffs to like make yourself stronger, slowly heal over time.
01:39:26
Speaker
And I'm like, I'm just going to tank my way through this and just block and then hit once or twice and then slowly chip away at this. I remember back when the DLC first came out, a tweet went viral of essentially somebody becoming ah but big becoming Levi Ackerman.
01:39:47
Speaker
I remembered that because just of the spells that they added and shit that you could do. I'm like, this dude's fucking brought a tag on Titan to dark the Elden Ring. Jesus Christ. Yeah, it's it's actually I've now been seeing so many videos of like people beating Elden Ring in like different ways. Like there's one boss that drops a mask that turns you into this thing and your only move is like a headbutt.
01:40:11
Speaker
and they beat the game by only headbutting everything the patience that you have to have to do that or like or like you or you have like a fucking what is it you hate yourself that it's a kink yes I think that's what some people have. Like legit, like you have a self deprivation. Kink is what you have to have. Jesus. I have the I need to finish this thing where I'm like, if I started this, I need to finish it. Yeah, like I have to. I can't let this game beat me. So luckily, I finally finished it and I just it was just felt so similar to like Mario Odyssey. I'm like, I never have to do this again.
01:40:55
Speaker
never do this again however There are rumors that from stuff might be making a second DLC if they are what are you hoping for? If they're not what do you hope their next game releases? I hope it's just easy they ah too if they do a DLC that it just needs to be like I'm it would just be so funny if all like the other bosses are hard and you get to like the last one it's just a one hit kill like that would be that would be so funny but I would be so okay with that in terms of like from soft I want I feel like I might be in the minority of this but I really like Sekiro and I want another game like that I love that game
01:41:36
Speaker
And I would hope that they, because that one also I feel like is easier to learn because blocking and everything, it's very like time and kind of rhythm based. You only have one, it's you're given what you're given and that's really it. There's no builds to be made. And then you just learn the move sets of like what counters what and whatnot. And I liked that a lot more. And then it was funny because I remember at the time a lot of people were complaining about it. And then Elden Ring releases like a samurai DLC and everyone starts playing as a samurai. I'm like,
01:42:05
Speaker
You realize there's an entire game where you can play as a samurai. Yeah. But I would love like another game like that. OK. I would like like just as like the outsider of like, hey, I appreciate all video games.
01:42:21
Speaker
I hope that they like bring blood boring to pc eventually so everyone can play it and yes Like that's that's what I hope for Uh, I did also I feel like because i've seen like streamers and stuff playing I feel like it those games are better to play on pc I played on ps4 and sometimes I felt like there was like lag On a lot of blood boards only on ps4. So yeah, but like it's watching some people play eldering I'm like, why does your gameplay look so much smoother than me playing on a ps4? like I feel like it might be easier on PC. Maybe it is. Maybe the maybe uncapping the frames or whatever the the god gamers do is the secrets. I think that's the way to go. It might be. It might be.
01:43:09
Speaker
Anything else you want to add on Elden Ring, Mario, cave it yourself?
01:43:18
Speaker
It's funny because like I think that's essentially also what it boils down to because people are like, you don't have to play this game. I'm like, yes, I do. I'm here. I have to do it. Do you think Elden Ring has a sense more people of therapy? Yes or no? Oh, for sure. It's funny because I've seen some like streamers when they have made videos on like how long it's taken them. At the beginning, ah many of them say, this is the closest I've ever been to quit streaming. I'm like, yeah, I understand that. like it's It's insane. But then it's also funny it just seeing like the differences on like what people struggle with compared to like what... There's some bosses that were like, oh, that was really easy. And then I watch a video and they're like, this was the

Pokémon Community Events

01:44:00
Speaker
hardest boss ever. I'm like, really?
01:44:02
Speaker
That. Interesting. Like I know I love the name. Whoever came up with this name is amazing because there's ancient dragon man. And it's just like a dude with a katana who has a dragon head. And a lot of people died to him and I just beat him very easily first try. I'm like, this this is what you struggled with. And then they go to like main bosses and they're like, oh, I did this first time, like how I spent like two hours on this. God.
01:44:34
Speaker
So it's just interesting, like everyone has a different experience with Elden Ring. Yeah, that is very true. That is very true. All right. Well, with that, then it's time for us to head on into the bonus level. Crazy lists, great deals and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level.
01:44:55
Speaker
And to kick it off, first things first, I do want to quickly give a shout out to our boy, Alfgar, who was on the podcast prior. um He is competing right now in the fourth, and I don't know if y'all have ever seen this on YouTube, um where a bunch of Pokemon streamers, YouTubers all work together to catch every shiny Pokemon of that generation.
01:45:17
Speaker
um that They've done up to Gen 3 so far. They failed Gen 1. They missed Gen 2 by 1 Pokemon, but they finished Gen 3. They got everything for Gen 3. When that video came out, they did that event. Currently, the Gen 4, where they do it in 24 hours, is on Right now and I want to give a quick update on that because they are sitting at um just under 17 hours and 96 of the 107 Sinnoh Pokemon have been found and I just want to give a shout out to all of those guys who are doing that because this is it's Honestly, one of my favorite things to watch ah this year from like cool projects that people have been doing and Do want to give a shout out to the homies? Whether you're listening to this, obviously it'll be over and we'll know if they've made it or not. Fingers crossed they do. But fingers crossed that they do. At least looking, they're on pace to do it again. They have like only, if they're at, they have like nine left. So. I feel like that's when it gets stressful.
01:46:17
Speaker
it It does, but shout out to them and everyone working on that right now. um And who did work on that? Because it's just a fucking cool event to be to watch. And it makes me want to go shiny hunt Pokémon legit. Like just watching all of this. It's like, man, I kind of want to do it. I've always thought about doing it, but I'm like, I don't know. I have an idea to do something for Pokémon, speaking of Pokémon.
01:46:41
Speaker
Have an idea to do something and I think it also stems from my childhood of the first Pokemon game that I ever had was Pokemon yellow When you're forced like right at the start essentially. Yeah, you just you don't get a choose like between just give it Yeah, you you just get Pikachu, but then then're the first of the other three the first badge or like first person that you like main fight is Brock, who is rock type. And your electric Pokemon does shit. Yeah. So as a kid, I wasn't smart enough to like figure out the dough to go catch a neater and who does. Yeah. So I just struggled for forever trying to beat Brock with Pikachu. And then I for some reason had the idea of like, would it be possible to beat that entire game only using Pikachu?
01:47:32
Speaker
And I kind of want to try it. So that's that's a challenge. I feel like I want to do or try someday. But boy, am I going to die? Probably. I want to do a thing where I like probably in a couple of years would like to make all the Pokemon games like every Pokemon accessible. Basically, once legends comes out, because then every Pokemon um is that avail aside from Mythicals, is that available on Nintendo Switch once legends drops?
01:48:02
Speaker
ah Once that I've to ah potentially try to shiny hunt every Pokemon. I would like to do that eventually because I feel like it would be cool. It would just be a good it would be cool chill streams. I wouldn't mind doing it one day. um But that's it. A distant future me.

Gaming Anniversaries and Nostalgia

01:48:19
Speaker
Yes. um Current future me. I want to play Coliseum and XD on stream. ah The two GameCube Pokemon games and go through those again.
01:48:28
Speaker
Hey guys, Future Tony here with an update to PM7's shiny Pokémon All Sinnoh Hunt. They did it. They were able to capture all 107 shiny Sinnoh Pokémon. Huge congrats to everybody that participated.
01:48:45
Speaker
I'm looking forward to the final video when that comes out on the pm7 channel and just shout us to our boy Alscar again who got to compete it who has to join ah these collaborations which are really super cool and Now back to your regular scheduled podcast um Anyway, back to the your regularly scheduled bonus level content. This week in gaming history, here's what happened in the past from August 26th, December 8th. Starting out with some major events. On September 3rd, 1996, Nintendo released the Game Boy Pocket Portable game system in the USA. And on the 8th, 2003, September 8th, 2003, they released the Game Boy Advance SP in Flame Red in onyx and in the US.
01:49:31
Speaker
As for game birthdays, here's what's celebrating a birthday. On the 26th, Dragon Quest VII in Japan turns 24. And Super Mario Sunshine turns 22. Oh god, I'm old. On the 27th, Metroid Prime 3 turns 14. Nope, 14.15.
01:49:54
Speaker
Wait, I can ask 17, 17, 17. We're good at math. we We were good at math here. On the 28th, Star Fox command turns 18. Yes. eighth yeah On the 29th, Saints Row also turns 18, which is very fitting for that franchise. um On the 29th, Yakuza Kawami turns seven.
01:50:22
Speaker
On the 30th, Killer Instinct turns 29. So maybe next year we'll see some Killer Instinct news. Who knows? On September 1st, Super Mario Kart turns 32.
01:50:41
Speaker
too My God. On September 2nd, Disney's Extreme Skate turns 21. On the 5th of September, Crash Bandicoot turns 28.
01:50:56
Speaker
Wow, holy shit, Crash Bandicoot's 22 years away from 30 years anniversary. Crazy. ah On September 7th, Final Fantasy 7 turns 27.
01:51:10
Speaker
And ah also on so on the 7th, Kingdom Hearts of Birth by Sleep turns 14. On September 8th, Final Fantasy 8 turns 25. Oh, yo, 25 years of Final Fantasy 8. Yo, congrats. And also on September 8th, Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced turns 21.
01:51:32
Speaker
um Now we go to top five and Just one last time for Ryan to relive some pain. What were your top five moons? Odyssey see I I was trying to think of a fifth one I have four and then I was like I can't think of like what a fifth one would be I think my all-time favorite one just because of how like funny it is is Ben is I think it's called bench friends where you know where you sit on the bench and you talk Yeah, i look that that's a good one That one was just so funny. I was like, this is great. Whoever thought of that just gets a raise. You need a raise. yeah I liked the like picture matching ones. I think it was in was it in Cloud Kingdom? Oh, yeah, the one. Yeah, the one in Cloud Kingdom. Yeah. Where you have like, yeah, just like the it shows you the picture and then you have to like drag the pieces and like try to match them. Yeah.
01:52:20
Speaker
Uh, uh, doing that when you haven't slept in 20 hours is also very interesting, but I really enjoyed them. Um, I did like darker side,

Super Mario Odyssey Highlights

01:52:31
Speaker
uh, as furating as it was when you're like the part where you have to get rid of Cappy and you have to like kind of platform because Mario was infuriating because 90% of the time, you're like, Mario, jump this way. And he's like, dive into lava? Yeah, I'll do that. And you're like, you idiot. But I enjoyed that. And then ah it was kind of cool like combination of everything that you kind of learned throughout the game in one level. It's the master platforming challenge. And like ah like I think ever since Galaxy 2, they've essentially implemented something like that. And I enjoyed it.
01:53:08
Speaker
Uh, I did also like the fact that once you get to like the glide on, you can just skip all the way to the end. Yeah. I did i remember that I did do that. I 100% did that. I saw a pipe and I was like, wait, ah but if I'm on glide on, can I just fly there? And then I did. And I'm like, thank God. But ah other than that, you know, it's still fun. Uh, I thought one moon that was really funny was the, um, when you look at the sun in mushroom kingdom in the castle.
01:53:40
Speaker
Oh yeah, because I just instinctively did that as like a joke because I'm like, Oh, I wonder if like I'll get taken like somewhere because of like you doing throwing or playing. Yeah, 64. I'm like, Oh, I can look here. And then I just got like a moon for it. I was like, that's so funny. I liked the little like inside joke.
01:53:59
Speaker
that it is, I guess, because I feel like that was a moon that us like 90s kids got. Yeah, no, absolutely. I mean, you had that. You also had Yoshi on the roof of the castle as well. Yes. Yeah. And then I was like trying to think of like a fifth one, but I'm like, I don't know.
01:54:17
Speaker
like ah It's hard to pick because there's so many like interesting ones like the one in Metro Kingdom where you have to like drive on the card to outrun the T-Rex. I still find it insane that there's T-Rexes. Yeah, they just put a T-Rex in a populated area and the forest collapses behind it.
01:54:39
Speaker
Uh, I enjoyed that. And then even in Metro Kingdom, the like 2D kind of like celebration thing. Oh yeah. The, the, the, yeah, the, the, essentially the final moon of the, but of value that's a good, that's a, that's like the most iconic one in my, ah for me at least. So I was like, I can't really, ah like, there's so many that are just like fun. and The ones that I hated the most were the ones where you have to just like throw Cappy onto the scarecrow and then you go into the sub area as just Mario.
01:55:12
Speaker
guilt I don't think I've yelled at Mario more times than just being like, Mario, stop bonking and

Comparing Elden Ring and DLC

01:55:17
Speaker
dying. ah Okay, well, that's that's pretty good. for I'll take the four or five there.
01:55:23
Speaker
Uh, head to head, two games after one game leaves, Elden Ring versus its DLC, Shadow of the Air 3. Which one did you prefer? I, it's, I feel like overall, I probably enjoyed Elden Ring a lot more than the DLC. The DLC was still great, but I can see like a lot of people, I, I could agree. Like it got in insanely difficult at times, especially if you're just kind of a more like casual.
01:55:51
Speaker
Elden Ring player, and you're not the one who wants to like grind a bunch to like level up and whatnot. But the DLC... I feel like it didn't have as much... Well, obviously, because it's DLC, but there wasn't like as much exploring to do.
01:56:10
Speaker
There's still an insane amount. Like for DLC, I was like, this is massive, the amount of stuff that you can do. But I think I spent a lot more time in the base game just going in to be like, Ooh, what's this game? Ooh, what's this? And like, just exploring a lot more. So I feel like even though it's close, I'd probably have to, I'd have to pick Elden Ring. Our game poll, a poll that changes every season. This season's poll, if Kingdom Hearts 4 was to add a Disney Pixar world that wasn't in the games, what world would you add?
01:56:42
Speaker
Yeah, I was thinking about that because I'm currently now I finished like the bar You finished your first team of hearts and then you skipped over chain of memories. Yes, i I'm just going into like the the core three Yeah, so I'm on the second one now, which is uh, which is gonna make the third game even more confusing for you Well, yeah, I'm not already like who's this person?

Kingdom Hearts Speculation

01:57:02
Speaker
What's this? And then well, thankfully they would like with two like the kind of person that really carries over from chain of memories is Axel Yes. Because everyone else in the organization that you fight in Chain of Memories is dead. Like you like legit, like that's where you first meet the organization is in Chain of Memories, but like the ones that you fight in that game are completely different aside from Axel, which is why he's the only one that transfers over into two because he's still got a role to play.
01:57:32
Speaker
And nominate. Nominate is also in that. Like, I kind of explained who nominate is a lot more in Chain of Memories. Yeah, like, it's still like easy to like follow, but like some of the flashbacks and stuff. I'm like, I don't fully understand this, but sure. um So you would have to correct me if these are in any of the games. I doubt that this one would be, but I feel like from pure nostalgia and like,
01:57:58
Speaker
being an underrated Disney movie would be if they had like a great mouse detective level. I think that would be hilarious. That would be a good cool one to see. It's such a like a mystery. and like I don't know. I love the great mouse detective. It's a good one. I think that would be fun. Or I don't know if they do, but like having an emperor's new groove.
01:58:22
Speaker
Okay. Emperor's new group. Legit. I would love to see that one. Honestly, i that it it doesn't like I was waiting for you to tell me like, Oh, it's in the third one. But the fact that I'm surprised that one's like it's one that I would love to see.

Game Recommendations and Wishlist

01:58:40
Speaker
Uh, and, and then if I had to pick another one, I think up would also be a good one. Yeah. up so Ups. Ups. The one that like people have like for the picks up on the picks are saying things like, Oh, we would love to see up because yeah you know, get to explore the stuff and all that. kind Cause like it's meant for X, but it's kind of like just meant for exploration with like, yeah, but the areas of the falls. Yeah. I don't think you asked for a top three, but yeah well those are my top three. Perfect.
01:59:06
Speaker
Your deals of the week that are coming up on epic games your free games until August 29th are the Calisto protocol and gigantic rampage edition Calisto protocol did get a lot of mixed reviews mostly on the negative side, but it is kind of like a Dad's face. I think they fixed it. I think we fixed it by now, but you can get it for free. It was very repetitive and like a bit clunky and I think they fixed it, but I haven't gone back to try it.
01:59:36
Speaker
You get that for free on Epic. um And your Steam sales. Dying Light currently has a sale going on. Escapist has a sale. And the Mafia franchise also has a sale going on on Steam. Your achievement of the week is in Blacksmith Wukong, Sixth Sense is Secured, which is to start a new game plus file and like attack once, like attack an enemy, and then it'll register the achievement.
02:00:00
Speaker
And your game of the week is Astro Bot because that game looks incredibly fun and simple and platformy. Yay. And Ryan, if there's one game older new that you would recommend to our audience to play right now, what game would that be?
02:00:22
Speaker
I think as much as I've been talking about how difficult it was, I do recommend Elden Ring. Any Soulsborne game, I highly recommend. I feel like a good way to get into them would be Sekiro, because it's like not as like crazy.
02:00:41
Speaker
and there's not as much to manage, but Soulsborne games are just fun. They're stressful and you hate life while you're playing them, but then you'll love it after. Nice. And in a paragraph or less, what are your thoughts on the War of the Rings, the War of Rorim getting its first trailer? Oh my gosh.
02:00:59
Speaker
like At first when I was seeing it, I'm like, oh, this is definitely fake. like This isn't real. like they would like I just thought that it was like a fan thing at first when I was hearing everything. I'm like, oh, this would be so cool, but like it's not going to happen. Then when I found out it was real, I'm like, oh my God, I'm trying not to watch any of the trailers just because I'm a weirdo and I just want to like be experience all of it in the years come December. I want to go in with I'm already going to have an expectations just because it's Lord of the Rings and I like have a I have a problem with with li mean ring to be fair. It's like ah it's a very well established franchise that has like a whole lot of high regard and it's held in that high regard. I mean all and you know the last was it the last Lord of the Rings project that came out golem?
02:01:48
Speaker
Yeah, I still want to play that game, even though it's so shit. Everyone's saying it's so bad. I feel like I'm still going to enjoy it. Didn't we joke about that last time you were on it? Like, oh, when he plays it, he likes work because I feel like it's going to be fine. for I guarantee you I'm going to play it and there's going to be no issues with it. I think it's like close to next on on the list of what I want to play because I know it's just probably going to be a quick thing to like go through. Yeah. But I feel like I'm just a sucker, like no matter what it is, Lord of the Rings wise,

Podcast Conclusion and Farewell

02:02:17
Speaker
I'm going to love it. but I've seen like some, uh, like screenshots or like, I saw a bit of the the trailer. I'm like, Oh, this looks so good. So I'm excited for it. And I'm hoping that we do not get let down. right All right. Well, with that, that's going to wrap up another episode here in the game of Ryan. Thank you once again for coming on. Thank you for having me. Where can we find you on the internet?
